Why is giving birth sometimes more dangerous in developing countries? Why have fistulas become almost unknown in the western world? Why do women die in childbirth? Why does it seem easier to invest in vaccines for children?
In developing countries, there are many women who died when they in childbirth. There are five factors for that; 1- Poverty. 2- Biology. 3- Lack of schooling. 4- Lack of rural health systems 5- Disregard for women. In my opinion, the poverty is the most important factor as we read for Prudence. The main cause for her death was poverty. If she had $100, she would save her life. And there are many women like Prudence in poor countries. The other factors are very important also. The society and government should do something for these women. Noura
Building from what Noura already commented i would like to add a few things, mostly detail.
Poverty and death go hand in hand in unmistakable agony. Everything but the soul is effected by poverty. Poverty is the main cause (if not only) of malnutrition, which in turn severely hampers the ability to both sustain a healthy body capable of withstanding the huge trauma of child birth and sustain a child in the womb. Poverty also causes people to not be able to seek medical treatment at a hospital, go to school, and even upset the established social order (after all, if you’re starving, you don’t want to disturb the main bread winner).
Poverty in effect causes many of the social ills that now plague the third world. Therefore if you want to save them, teach them how to fish. That is to say teach them a marketable skill that they can use to raise themselves out of poverty. Also, it’s important not to forget that capital is also needed, because one cannot fish without a fishing rod. Thusly microfinance and education are the best option to saving women. KC5728
I would like to say that the basic reason why all these things occur in other countries because of a simple lack of resources. It is more dangerous to give birth because there are not enough hospitals for women to go to give birth. Obviously there is a higher rate of deaths from women giving birth in these countries. It seems easier to invest in vaccines for younger children because they have less complex bodies. The older you get the more advanced your body gets until you are about 18 years old. Children have relatively simple bodies and therefore they may be easily cured by cheaper and easier to access vaccines. KC1745
Giving birth is more dangerous in developing countries since they lack the fundamentals to deliver a healthy child and even more so they discriminate especially if you lack the money for healthcare.
Its easier to invest in vaccines for younger children since they are just developing. If they are vaccinated they are safeguarded against certain diseases so their life is prolonged and have better chances at surviving to older age. It's cheaper to just vaccinate children since they have so much more potential and their bodies can adjust to such changes.
The things mentioned above, dangerous child birth conditions, fistulas, and the death rate of women in developing countries, are all due to the poor health care conditions in those countries resulting from poverty. If the government does not have enough money to improve hospitals the patients get the short end of the stick. This means that there could be ill qualified doctors who are unable to take care of patients along with poor sanitation. The combination of poor care and poor sanitation can lead to a high death rate of childbirths and things like fistulas. Our modern society is somewhat oblivious to these things because we are so accustomed to receiving proper care; in developing countries this is not the case. Yet it does seem to be possible to get vaccinations for children rather than adults. This is because it is worth the spending the money on a child that has the rest of their life ahead of them as opposed to an adult who probably will die soon. As horrible this might sound, there is hope that the new generation will be prepared to fight diseases and possibly live longer.
Giving birth in developing countries can sometimes be more dangerous because the risk of getting infections are higher since they don’t follow rigorous sanitation practices and lack many medical devices that are used in developed countries. Fistulas have become almost unknown in the western world as women, when in long labor, can get a cesarean. On the other hand, women in developing countries don’t have this option as they only have the option of a natural birth, resulting in long labors, which is the cause of a fistula. Many women die in childbirth from infections and lack of medical equipment and anesthesia/epidural. While in labor, the body is very weak to fight off any form of infection, making it easier for the infection to take over. The use of an epidural eases the pain and facilitates labor, without this, women go through intense labor pains and longer labor period, making them weak to continue during and even after labor, resulting in death. To them, it seems easier to invest in vaccines for children because of the countries poor health and lack of nutrition.
Dangerous child birth conditions, fistulas, and the death rate of women in developing countries during pregnancy is caused by poor health care and health coverage. These countries do not have sterile hospitals with well trained and equipped doctors to make child birth a relatively low risk process, as it is in the united states and other civilized countries. Many people see it easier to invest in vaccines for children versus pregnant mothers because it is easier to give to children. Naturally people want to help children and have compassion for them. The women that are pregnant are for the large part ignored.
The reason why childbirth may become fatal during childbirth is a a result of many different reasons. These reasons include poverty, lack of resources, and refusal to accept western medicine. Often times developing countries are filled with poverty which in turn leads to a lack of resources. Child birth can take on a number of complications already in today's culture so it multiplies those complications that much more when modern medicine and techniques aren't involved. Poverty most likely means lack of cleanliness which often leads to high rates of bacteria in poor countries. When disease is more likely it plays a vital factor as to why fatalities are increased for both children and women. Another reason besides poverty of not having modern medicine is simply the refusal to accept modern techniques. Many traditional medicines and techniques are passed down from many generations which makes it hard to part ways with these methods. It make take much time before a developing culture begins to accept modern techniques.
The reason it is easier to give vaccines to children is because a child's life is often times held at a higher value then an adult life. When child birth complications happen in western culture, the same standard is held in that the child's life is often time attempted to save before the mother's life. The child's life is held in higher regard because they have more opportunity for the future then the mother has. Chidren are the key to the future which in turn making it easier to give vital life saving vaccinations to children rather then adults.
In western society, people view giving birth as a joyful event. People celebrate the birth of a new life and congratulate the family. However, in third world country the process of giving birth is dangerous and life threatening to the mother and the fetus. It's not uncommon to hear a mother die during childbirth in third world country whereas in western society, such an event would be a tragedy that can be seen on mass media. Women die during childbirth due to lack of care, support, medicine, etc. It's easier to vaccinate children because it is cheaper to do so and children's life are more valued than the mother.
It’s sometimes more dangerous to give birth in developing countries because of the lack of sanitized medical equipment and inadequate people aiding the birth process. Many don’t know the necessary preparations needed for and after birth, so it sometimes leads to infections or worse.
Fistulas have become almost unknown in the western world because it’s not a very common occurrence in the western part of the world. We have very good hospitals that care for women during and after birth, so fistulas, if they occur, are fixed.
Women die in childbirth because of the lack of care women receive when complications occur during birth. When the position of the baby is wrong, it’s hard for the mother to give birth with the feet coming out first. In this case, the mother would need a c-section. Since there are very few hospitals, surgery is an impossible feat.
It seems easier to invest in vaccines for children because people have a greater sense of sympathy and obligation towards children than adults. This might be why more programs are focused on helping and caring for children.
It's dangerous to give birth in developing countries because of poor prenatal care. Often the hospitals are far away and many women cannot get to them in time. Fistulas were fixed in the western world because of proper care, recognition of the problem and doctors knew how to fix them. People invest more in vaccines for children because there is the hope of having the male one's survive. Also many people see them as the future. KC6230
Giving birth in developing countries is more dangerous for numerous reasons. They do not have high class medical care and the process is not as sanitary which can lead to disease. Women die in childbirth because they do not receive the care they need, or medicine. Westerners do not realize that childbirth is dangerous because we are accustomed to good medicare. Also fistulas have become unknown to them because they always have proper medicare and most likely the fistula will not be fatal. It seems easier to invest in vaccines for children because they have their whole life in head of them unlike adults.
For the most part giving birth in developing countries is riskier due to the fact that healthcare and facilities are less developed. People don't really realize that birth is a dangerous ordeal because we are used to the drugs and care that help make it easier for us. Investing in vaccines is a good idea because not only does it prevent the likelihood of death right after birth but for years and years to come, it is an investment in life itself.
Giving birth in developing countries is a dangerous procedure for many reasons. They of lack the medical care due to poverty and lack of resources. Thus, many women die because the proper aid is not provided. In our society, we did not realize how dangerous childbirth is because we are norm to the healthcare and treatment provided. The investment of vaccine is a good idea because it prevents fatality and it is easier to vaccinate while a child than later on.
I believe giving birth is sometimes more dangerous in developing countries and fistulas are almost entirely unknown in the western world because of poorer health care and lack of funding in developing countries. Vaccines are easier to invest in for children because they still have room too grow, as stated above they have less complicated bodies. The vaccine also takes into effect much more effectively at a younger age, prolonging life and likely preventing future afflictions. KC8718
The main cause of death while giving birth is most definatley because of poverty. Poverty results in a lack of resources to give the mother during birth, and the months leading up to it. Not only does malnutrition play into this, but also just the lack of hospitals and doctors that can assist in child birth. Without hospitals and doctors, women must give birth in unsterile enviorments where a number of variables can go bad, unlike in a hospital where many of these variables are controlled.
Things such as fistulas are not common in the western world because they can be fixed by doctors who know what they are doing. Fistulas don't occur as often in the western world, and when they do, they are often successfully treated.
It seems easier to invest in vaccines for children because they are the future of the country and therefore must live.
Giving birth is sometimes more dangerous in developing countries because conditions are poor, medical technology is limited, and women are not able to find the help they need. Hospitals are scarce and it is often impossible for women to make their way to a hospital, and therefore are forced to give birth at home. These conditions can be unsanitary and near impossible without medical assistance. Fistulas have become almost unknown in the western world because women in developed countries are often able to have a cesarean birth, while women in developing countries do not have the accessibility. Women die in childbirth because they do not have medical assistance that is often necessary for childbirth. It seems easier to invest vaccines for children because vaccines are much cheaper than the money required to cure someone with an illness. KC9846
Giving birth can be more dangerous sometimes in developing countries due to lack of sufficient medicinal needs, such as doctors, vaccines, clean medical equipment and facilities, etc. Fistulas have probably become unknown in the western world because the western world is more developed and has efficient medical equipment, doctors, and facilities that can prevent them from happening, and this is not always the case in developing countries. This also applies to why women die more in child birth in developing countries: with less efficient medical fields, women are more likely to fall ill and not be able to recover from child birth because the medicines are not efficient. Finally, it is easier to invest in vaccines for children because sometimes people feel like a child's life is more valuable and delicate than an adult's life. They want to give a child a chance to have a life and it is more tragic if a child dies at a young age and does not get to experience life, whereas an adult has already experienced much living. KC8026
The main cause of death while giving birth roots back to poverty. The link between extreme poverty and bad child births is real. Poverty results in a lack of resources. And when a mother is giving birth and during the months leading up to it she fails to receive the proper care she needs. When a child is being born it relies on its mother as a host of nutrition. Yet, when a mother lacks resources for her to eat her child suffers as well. Not only does malnutrition play into this, but also just the lack of hospitals and doctors that can assist in child birth. Without the use of hospitals and standard of hygiene is not kept and the womb can be exposed to a lot of bacteria. An unsterile environment can lead to a variety of birth defects.
Things such as fistulas are not common in the western world because they can be fixed by doctors who know what they are doing. Fistulas don't occur as often in the western world, and when they do, they are often successfully treated. Fistulas are more common in impoverished areas that lack sterility and doctors.
It is truthfully more tragic if a child were to die at a young age than in an older human passed away. A child's life is valued much more than other lives. There value is so high that it seems that it would be necessary for vaccines to be imposed. That could ensure the safety of the young and so they can mature properly and in a healthy way.
Often times women in these less developed nations die during and after child birth is simply a lack of medicine, knowledge, and money. These women simply don't have the resources to increase their rates of successful births. My mother actually experienced this through one of her elder sisters. Whilst she was still in Vietnam, her sister gave birth and died shortly after. Not only were they not able to receive proper care from a trained medical professional but they also didn't have the knowledge to allow for a proper birth.
